We gather together for Initiating our collective reset through acts of renewal, re-engagement and strengthening our connection with Water, Song, Mother Earth.

Using the urgency of this time as a catalyst for growth people awoke again remembering our greatest power is relationship with all living things This is the moment we remember Truth as undeniable as the ringing of a bell. Spirit of Water and Song meet here.

Re-tuning our ways of being

Whatever our work in the world, many of us are becoming aware of our life purpose being activated, or re-activated, re-aligned and requiring us to show up fully to meet its presence. We can’t evade the need to transform our relationship with energy. From fossil fuels, to our own selves becoming fossils, to the energetic lines of light that fuel and connect us all, new possibilities are arising. Given what we know about this time and the teeny window it affords, we are called to engage in collective action to bring about life-affirming change.

We now have the opportunity to share skills and cross pollinate global traditions to become educated in the profound cosmologies and practices of Indigenous cultures. Many are also being called to create and use our voices for the greater good. I’ve studied with Elders & shamans of the Andean traditions for 10 years. They have asked that practices related to growing Consciousness be shared with peoples of all nations, to strengthen our collective relationship with Mother Earth, like never before.  Original ways are returning, that we may honor their teachings by applying them in ways that meet our challenges today. One teaching is that music has purpose, to open hearts and grow consciousness.

For the past 3 years I have taken a deep dive into studying and learning improvisational singing with Rhiannon and her circle of vocal river traditions. Her methods of leaderless improvisation teach us the ways and power of improvisation to grow our capacity to listen, collaborate, make space, take up space, fill our bodies and dwellings with the light of music. Vocal Improvisation teaches what it means to be vulnerable, courageous, kind and generous and to share leadership.

As a life-long student/teacher I am profoundly struck by the inter-relatedness of the indigenous way of prayer and improvisational singing in Rhiannon’s practices. Both prayer and creation of song are intricately and intrinsically connected. The practice of cultivating a release-state and becoming available for songs to come through your voice is a shift in perceptual awareness. In this workshop, we will key-in to this state of awareness through using singing and indigenous learning. These frameworks together make a beautiful way, providing vitally useful tools for growing new ways of being in flow, as we shift toward vibrancy and alignment with a new light that is emerging.

Relational capacity of water and song

Indigenous learning is relational. Music, especially improvisational music, is relational. Because Water is connected to all living things, and sustains all life, it has everything to do with relational-ness. From our own vitality, to our capacity for growing relationship with the spirit of water and the spirit of song, we learn to become adept with fluidity in situations. Together we will explore methods for activating and infusing water with song. We will use the vocal river traditions as a gateway to connect with each other, with the spirit of music, of place and water.  Through body movement, and vocal practices developed by Rhiannon for 40 years, we will dive in to the power of our own capacity for fluidity by engaging in the vocal river work . Her methods are unique and universal and key to collaborative sovereignty; these rich practices teach us how to be sovereign to ourselves while holding space for and in the circle. We will discuss our relationship with water and all its wired to, how it relates to song, creation, its characteristics and how to begin rebalancing and honoring water around us and music within us and what it carries in and for our communities. Every day water is working for us. Music is working for us. Days without song and water Kill us. What if we engage both consciously and purposefully through cultivating awareness?

The Practical Explorations

I am sharing practices from the Indigenous Knowledge of the people of Andean cultures that have been taught by Elders who asked for increased awareness in the non-Indigenous peoples. And through Rhiannon’s Vocal River traditions we learn about flexibility, forgiveness, trust and how to support others. We will explore indigenous practices, and vocal improvisational musicality, separately at first, then we will braid song, water and spirit together and embody experiences of some of the wisdom and properties of how we can revitalize and re-connect our world better. I feel these practices are vital, not only for our own thriving but for co-habitants of our mother earth as well, since we are not separate. What if changing our relationship with song, water and spirit could significantly begin to rebalance all life on the belly of Mother Earth/Pachamama? This gathering offers a way to remember how to engage the spirit of water, of place, of song, enabling us to reclaim our capacity for thriving in rightful relation with our world. This offering of spiritual practices through voice and body, from multiple traditions brings powerful ways to embody and integrate what is already in motion in you.

Spirit of Water & Song will offer:

ways to clear and cleanse and feed your own luminous body to fuel thriving.

practices to activate and encode water for specific purposes and regional healing.

architecture of luminous body and how to gather specific frequencies of light into it.

skill of making spontaneous music through vocal improvisation.

practice for healing and balancing waters and land.

experiential knowledge of calling on powers and working with the spirits of place.
